Gatewood Estates has a detention pond of approximately 10 acres of uneven and rugged terrain that must be tended to and that cannot be developed as it serves as a water run off area for the homeowners.  Since the detention area is dangerous it remains a liability to the homeowners should someone enter into the area and be hurt.

In 2010, the Board of Directors contacted legal counsel for an opinion on how to shelter the homeowners from the unwanted liability and most importantly help avoid unnecessary injury.  At that time it was decided to add a sign on the gate for no trespassing.

The area was reassessed in July 2017 due to the discovery of large sinkholes.  At this time the detention pond has been locked per advice from the county.  If members need access to the area, please send a request to gatewoodestates2@gmail.com so arrangements can be made.
